ANGLES OF WELLBEING
REAR EXTENSION

WALLER ROAD, TELEGRAPH HILL, LONDON

In Waller Road, Telegraph Hill, London,  Wellstudio has designed a contemporary new single storey side and rear extension to an existing Victorian terraced house.

The extension created replaces the cramped kitchen and dining area with a new, spacious living, kitchen and dining area for the whole family which has become the hub of the home.

The space has good floor to ceiling heights, rooflights and rear bi folding glazed doors which maximise natural light, connect the family to the garden and views of the sky.

The angled glazed side windows, one of which frames views of the garden, the other which looks out over the newly created internal courtyard with planting provide a strong geometric identity to the extension which creates interest and visual harmony.

The new shaker kitchen with its long island and galley of worktop and storage cupboards fulfills the family's practical requirements for cooking as well as facilitating conversation between those cooking and others sitting at the dining table, window seat or relaxing on the sofa.

Finally, the bespoke joinery window seat element adds another dimension of wellbeing to the design, cleverly wrapping around the corner as well as incorporating additional storage.
